Shade Tree Interiors is committed to implementing business practices that will ensure a greener tomorrow. Listed below are some of our initiatives to achieve this goal. We intend to add more “green” items to our product line in the future.
- Offering Eco-Friendly fabrics that are made from organically grown cotton, hemp, linen and bamboo. They have chemical free finishes and natural dyes.
- Recycling all packaging material.
- Donating fabric, blinds and sample books that can no longer be utilized.
- Offering products that provide energy efficiency for the home.
- Offering wood blinds and shutters that use materials from sustainable forests.
- Selecting vendors in close proximity to minimize fuel emissions.
Kim Updegraff is the owner of Shade Tree Interiors, LLC. The company began as V2K Window Décor & More in 2004 and recently changed its name to Shade Tree Interiors. Originally a franchise, Kim made the decision to become independent so that she could better serve her clientele. She can now assess the demands of her individual market and meet the needs of her customers. With the freedom to select her own vendors and manufacturers she can provide higher quality and better value to her clients.
A Berks County native, Kim graduated from Governor Mifflin High School. She attended Bloomsburg University and received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Marketing. In 2001 while completing her MBA from Penn State University, she took an Entrepreneurship course. The prospect of business ownership sparked her interest, so in 2004 she decided to take her passion for window treatments to the next level and purchased V2K Window Décor & More. It has been an amazing journey and she is looking forward to the new direction of her company.
